Self Promotion - Society6

I have made a conscious effort to promote myself to a wider audience through my Blog, Facebook, Instagram and my Twitter accounts, hoping that the right audience will find my Art.

Last week I added to my self promotional channels, by setting up a Society6 account under the name "MonTyacke", the same as my other accounts.

If you don't know already, Society6 is a web based company where designers and artists upload their work onto the site, and Society6 make the art into Prints, iPhone cases, Canvases etc. All the artist has to do, is upload their images and set their pricing, then Society6 ship the orders all around the world for the artist. Some of the time they have a free shipping promo (their current promo ends midnight 29 Sept 13, CA time.)
My "Inkblot I" image on Samsung Galaxy and iPhone cases (all iPhone/iPod sizes)

My "Reef" painting on iPhone and Samsung Galaxy cases

My "Low Tide" painting as Framed prints

My "Low Tide" painting as iPhone and Samsung Galaxy skins
Members of the site can also "promote" your work, similar to the "like" button on Facebook.

The whole concept of my own Society6 account is an experiment in promotion and pricing my own work. I am hoping to add more prints and designs after becoming more knowledgeable about the process, so keep posted.

If you would like to see my work or buy a Print/iPhone Case at Society6, you can now do so here!

I am hoping to have a giveaway very soon, I'll keep you posted on my Facebook page.

Thanks for stopping by....

52, a portrait a week of my children...

He is always scooting around, this time outside one of the local art galleries.

A rare moment, sitting in silence enjoying the view of the city for my little guy.

There aren't many photos of me, here's a tourist shot with my boys, such a gorgeous day.

Chris Langlois @ Manly Art Gallery & Museum

Over the years, I've been admiring Artist, Chris Langlois' work from afar.

My love of his work first started in high school (he was a few years ahead of me at the same high school). I remember seeing the painting he did for the HSC, I thought it was GENIUS!

It was a huge painting of the Last Supper. He had painted it exactly like the original by Leonardo Da Vinci, except that they were all eating McDonalds for supper! I remember a feeling of excitement, the feeling that anything could be done with Art. I was in awe of what he could do with a paintbrush, and I still am.

The Artist - Chris Langlois

The paintings he creates now are nothing like his Last Supper painting. He has evolved hugely, and is still a magician with his paintbrush and manipulation of oil paint. His epic landscapes have a beauty that is sensual and extremely pleasing to the eye. From a landscape or seascape, to rain on the car window, his images keep you wanting to see more. His website is full of images of his works, and his studio space is one of the tidiest and most organised Artist Studios I've ever seen!

He paints in oil on linen in a very large scale, so standing in front of one of his paintings gives you a sense of being there, in the moment.

You can decide for yourself how you feel about his work. His current Exhibition - POINTS IN TIME, A Survey - 2002-2013, is on at Manly Art Gallery and Museum until the 4th of November, 2013.

Chris also has an upcoming book to coincide with the survey Points in Time, which you can buy at the exhibition.

52, a portrait a week of my children...

He came and told me he had to draw on some battle scars, it's still there 3 days later, lol!

It was an afternoon of dress ups and playing outside. I didn't really care about what they took outside as long as they weren't arguing and were having fun. They played for hours, until it got cold and the sun went down. Now thats what being a kid is all about right??

P.S. I love my 50mm lens, just saying...

New Work

Earlier this week I pulled out a few unfinished art pieces from a while ago (they could even be from last year). I thought I would re-work a few ideas and this is what I've come up with for this Butterfly piece.

Remember the Butterfly painting I did for the Warringah art Exhibition a few years back, well this was started back then. Sometimes I will just stop in the middle of an artwork if I'm not feeling it. In this case, I'm really glad that I came back to it. I think I'll even get it framed!

Mixed Media on Brown Card 235gsm (Acrylic ink, watercolour pencil, acrylic paint).

Unframed 43cm x 40 cm (17" x 16"(approx)).

He has just spent this weekend at Band Camp and his favourite activity was Archery.

2 *NEW* Limited Edition Prints

I've been procrastinating about adding Prints of my artworks to my Etsy Shop.

I started off wanting a Shop filled with Original Artworks, then I kept getting requests for prints of some of my more popular paintings that have been sold.

I am releasing a few in Limited Editions of 25 (for each print), over the next week or so.

They will be all printed on acid free Hahnemuhle Fine Art paper - 308gsm, using Epson archival inks.

The two below are titled "Low Tide" and "Papillon".

You can find them in my Etsy Shop here.

10 on 10 - September

Today was a stinker - around 30C degrees (and very windy).

Spring is definitely here.

This morning looked beautiful

Yummy fresh oranges for a snack

A little floral inspiration made it's way onto paper

Hot enough for an ice cream that's for sure

This kid, those dimples...

I should have done some laundry but I was too lazy

The big one is teaching the little one. 5 minutes later there were tears, lol!
