Today was such a beautiful winter's day, we walked, caught buses and ferries and walked again. We ate lunch at the Pub, looked in shop windows, walked across the Harbour Bridge and went to Luna Park. My feet hurt, but the kids were in bed early and now it's time to relax and look at all my photos from the day.

Two Sets of Four

I am really enjoying working on paper, the smaller scale is so fun to play with. The last few days, I have created two lots of four paintings. The first are all coral from the reef, and the second are an idea that came to mind from my iPad drawings that I do most days.

The first lot has an odd one out though. The blue/orange/green was the first one I painted of these and I used white acrylic ink to do the detail all over. The other 3 have coloured line details and look better to me, more depth. They'll look pretty good framed, that's the next step.

The craziness of the second four is really appealing to me at the moment. I am loving painting them. I think it stems from my screen printing days. I always love blocks of bright colours and (mostly) organic shapes. These will all be available in my shop shortly. I just have to get my act together to add them all.

I started early this morning  finishing off the coral painting below. After a little play with R, I did a little more on the commissioned piece that has a looming deadline. I'm not sure where it's going but I am enjoying working on something a little different.

R was playing so nicely, so I painted  a few brightly coloured fun pieces to add to my ever growing collection. I took a snippet of each and 'pic stitched' them together. They will be available in my store soon for purchase. I am loving colour at the moment, the Winter here seems to be dragging on a bit, I'm ready for Spring to be here.

Works on Paper

A painting/drawing from yesterday, I was just doodling.

Playing with watercolours today. Colourful coral.
Watercolour and Acrylic Ink on Paper

I've got so much going on at the moment, painting commissions, a photography course (so I can learn my new camera), selling my art online, some design work for a client, as well as looking after my busy family day in and day out. Sometimes it's all a little overwhelming but I wouldn't have it any other way. I would like, however, a few more hours in the day to let my brain wander and create some new and interesting art.

The paintings above we're done last week while R was playing next to me. He kept asking me if he could paint as well, but I kept saying no. I felt bad, but he makes such a huge mess and all I wanted to do was get my thoughts out onto paper without the stress of him putting paint everywhere. He was ok once I pulled out the superhero box of toys for him to play with. He is a pretty easy going kid when it's just the two of us.

Palm Beach

A beautiful Saturday spent up at Palm Beach. It's only 20 minutes from where we live, but it feels like it's miles away from here. We stopped at Avalon for morning tea and a wander through some of the shops - Mark Tuckey Home, Table Tonic etc. and then drove the short distance to Palmy. We played in the park, ate some lunch at Dunes and wandered down to the Boat House Restaurant. It was a really lovely day, so relaxing, and so warm! A perfect winter's day.

A little set of paintings.

I am finding these fun to do. I've already sold a few of them. They are small, bright and look great all framed on a wall together. I think I will do a few more.
