Ideas to ponder...

Over the weekend I played around with some ideas that have been racing around in my head for ages.

Firstly I wanted to start compiling all the info I need to open my Big Cartel store online. This is no small task. I've been photographing my paintings, which I find really fun (but sometimes frustrating) to do. The light has to be just right though. The weather lately has been a bit of a shocker, so I gave up after 2 paintings. I'm hoping for some nicer weather this week. The other thing is, do I print my own limited edition prints, or do I get them done by someone who actually knows what they are doing? If money was no object, I would go the pro route, but they would be making more money than me on my artworks. So, I will do some more testing, maybe upgrade my printer, test out a few different archival quality papers and hopefully it will all work out. I would also like to sell more originals than prints. Even if they are small, I think original is always best.

So I took little R downstairs to my studio for a play and to watch a movie (Pete's Dragon), while I had some fun playing around with some paint colours I rarely use - flouro's. These images have been playing on my mind for a few weeks now and I've only just found some time to steal away so that I can paint a little without feeling guilty.

I'm feeling a little like I'm being pulled in every direction at the moment. Little R has become more clingy than normal, and L is more emotional than he has ever been. On top of that, my lovely husband is working harder than he ever has, and the stress level for him to succeed is through the roof. So, I am thankful that I got a little me time over the weekend to potter around the house, mostly doing chores, but to paint a little was just lovely, it's all I ever want to do really. Xo

Taking Photos

My husband was lovely enough to buy me a new camera for my birthday last month, so today I photographed some of my most recent artworks. I find it to be very therapeutic, the order of it all, making sure its straight, there is no glare and that the colours are correct makes me happy. I use a tripod, and take the photos outdoors in the shade, the colours look the best (to me) in that kind of light. Hopefully I will have some to show next week once they have been through Photoshop.

Here are today's instagram pics. I played (a little) with some water colours, just before I picked the boys up from school. It's always so much fun, even if it is only a few minutes squeezed in between other things. Photographing my art today. Making some prints to sell online. Playing with some watercolours.

Manly

Hoping the rain would stay away, we headed to Manly this morning for a walk along the foreshore. The rain came eventually but not before we did some scooting and rock hopping. Once the rain arrived, we jumped in the car and decided to catch a movie, Ice Age 4. We were in the back row of the cinema, the kids thought is was great!

A trip to the shops...

L and I went to the shops to grab a few things today, we spotted this $9999.00 chandelier and I had to take a pic, I like sparkly things. Pretty Chandelier We stopped for a hot chocolate and a melting moment, he is always so fun to chat with over morning tea. A marble melting moment and a hot chocolate with Mum. My favourite 7 year old in the whole wide world. The top of the hot choc was pretty special... Mmmmm.... Today's hot chocolate. We managed a stop at the Art shop and I got some new flouro colored paints,I have a few ideas floating around, hopefully I can get something down onto paper before the inspiration goes. Bought some new colours this morning. A happy painting day. Lastly, I saw this idea and thought I would make a nice chunky necklace for my Sister's birthday. It was my first go and I think it looks ok, hopefully she likes it. My hands hurt from rolling out the clay... Just whipped up a necklace for my sister, for her birthday. Ssshhhh, don't tell her.

Titanic

It's school holidays and we are all enjoying spending some time inside out of the cold. I've mentioned before L's love of Lego. He is stuck on making the Titanic at the moment, he even raided the recycling to make one from boxes, egg carton's and toilet roll cylinders. I think they're pretty good, its keeping him busy at least. Untitled Titanic! Titanic II Titanic III Titanic IV
