Good Folks are here!

This is the last purchase or fabric for a while. I promise I won't buy any more, I promise I will use what I have. This was so yummy and I have been eyeing it off for a while now that I just had to get a little bit, just a sample of each, 24, 1/8 yard pieces is just enough for me. Its Good Folks by Anna Maria, as if you didn't know already. I plan on making a quilt using a lot of white or super dark navy around each piece of loveliness. I can't wait till it's finished (or even started).

Have a lovely weekend, it's meant to rain the whole time here, hopefully I can steal some time away from everyone to be creative.

Cupcake Thursday

A rainy stormy day with not much food in the house and look what came about. Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes. You just use a packet cake mix, any flavour and mix it up how you usually do. When it comes time to spoon it into cupcake papers, use flat bottomed cones instead. Sadly I have to say that you use the microwave to cook them so they don't burn. ( Not my preferred way to cook cupcakes, but it works for this.) I put mine in the microwave and watched them the whole time. When the cake batter rose above the cone, I opened the door to test them (about 1 and a 1/2 minutes) and they were done - fastest cupcakes EVER. When they were cool, we iced them with the icing mix from the packet mix and put sprinkles on top. They brightened up our grey day.

MOO cards

MOO Minicards above and below
I punched a hole in the MOO Minicards and looped some cotton through to use as swing tags for some of our products - above.

MOO Business Cards above

I have been trying to get things sorted out so that we can start selling our Playmats and Kids things at some upcoming markets. I came across MOO cards about a year ago and have been wanting to buy some since then. My first lot of business cards are pretty generic, I wanted some quick and just went in and used their templates - I love them even though they are so simple.

Their site is so easy to use and the cards that they send (all they way from the UK) are super fab! I love them so much. The idea of being able to have as many images as you want was the thing that hooked me. My next order will mostly consist of photos that I have taken myself mostly of beachy things that go with the Remi and Jack brand.

I also used their MOO minicards as swing tags with our choking hazard warning on them (the top 2 pics), they work wonderfully don't you think? You should go to MOO, they are excellent!

Narrabeen Market Day

A glorious Autumn day yesterday! I needed to go and check out some Markets in the local area to see which one we might go to and sell our Playmats and other Kids things. I haven't been to the Narrabeen Markets for about 4 years, I've driven past a million times though. It is on the 3rd Sunday of every month.

It is always a lovely walk along the lake. The bike path winds through the trees and the open air Markets line both sides of the path for about 500 metres. There were a few really nice things here and there, and I think it would be the perfect market for our first. There was nothing there that was anything like what we want to sell, so that's a plus. I think we would do well.

Sorry, no pics of the Markets themselves, but some pics of the lovely Autumn day and a gorgeous boy enjoying his market purchase below.

A Saturday Beach Walk

How lovely is this pic above!
We live in a pretty beautiful place - I love it. We didn't plan a walk along the beach today, it just happened. We had planned to go to a Home Expo in this area, but the traffic was a nightmare, and trying to find a parking spot was way too hard. So we drove in the opposite direction - back towards home - and stopped at one of our local parks for the kids to have a play. Conveniently for us, most of the parks around here are by the beach, so we went down to the water and had a play as well. It was such a nice, calm surf, it was a lovely feeling to be out with my family. I love days like this when what you thought was going to be a day of nothing, and it turns into something wonderful.

My little explorer loves to collect shells.

Daddy and his boys, such a lovely pic, I think I will frame it!

Remi's First Quilt

She loves to make quilts, she loves to sew, she loves to smile, she loves her family. That's my Sister! Anyone in our family who has a baby, receives a handmade quilt from my beautiful Sister for their new little one. She spends time choosing fabrics either from her magnificent fabric stash, a quick drive to Spotlight (the local fabric store), or a browse of her favourite online U.S fabric stores - Hancocks of Paducah, Fat Quarter Shop or Quilt Home. Then she creates an amazing quilt suited to each child. She made the one above, with love, for our little Remi using American Jane Wee Play fabrics. A lot has been going on in my sisters life, so he was lucky enough to receive it for his 1st Birthday. He will cherish it forever!

Why more fabric?

This arrived in the post today, another purchase from Etsy, 2 different stores. I was searching Etsy one day and came across this Arcadia fabric. Actually, I saw the quilt below first and decided that I needed and wanted to make something like it myself. I think it is the awful weather and the feeling of Winter looming that makes me want to snuggle under a yummy quilt.

So that's another thing to do on my ever growing list of things to sew, bet you it doesn't get done until next Winter, like the other fabric waiting in my fabric drawer.

One

A year has gone by in a flash. A gorgeous little baby boy has become a beautiful one year old.

Walking and running,
climbing and falling,
eating anything he can fit into his mouth.
Grunting words,
pointing chubby fingers,
curiously exploring everywhere.
Loving fruit and vegies,
the outdoors,
and most of all, us.

I wish time would slow down.
Happy Birthday my sweet boy, I love you forever.
