Lighthouse Walk

It was a little breezy with a few clouds about this morning. We have been going to do the Barrenjoey Lighthouse walk for a while. Today we finally got around to it. We invited Luca's little friend and his Mum along for the adventure. It was tough in a few parts, but we all managed really well. The Littlest One was in the backpack on Dad's back and he loved every minute of it.

The view from the top of the hill is as lovely as I remember from my last walk up there. I banged my camera into a rock 3/4 of the way up and the lens went wonky, so I had to use my friends camera for the rest of the time, so hopefully I got some good lighthouse shots on her camera.
Barrenjoey Lighthouse (the only pic I got before the camera incident).

The pic above is of Palm Beach on the right of the Penninsula and Pittwater on the left of the Penninsula. I always feel so far detached when I venture up to Palmy, it's really only 30 mins away, but feel like I am on vacation somewhere miles away. I must visit more often.

Robot Prints

Finally I framed and hung the Robot prints I bought from Tiel at Tsk Tsk in the boys room. They are above a shelf holding a few of their favourite things, books by Oliver Jeffers, a Treasury of Curious George book, their money boxes, VW kombi's, favourite toys and photos. They look really great!

Trick or Treat

After living in the U.S for 10 years, Halloween is the norm for us. The sad part of it is that no one in our street celebrates it. Our kids like the thought of all the candy and the dressing up part is always so adorable. Our big boy was Optimus Prime and our little boy was a Lion. We have 3 access doors into our house, and they went to all 3 to trick or treat, then they sat down and ate the lot! Well done boys! Maybe next year we can find a neighbourhood that does Halloween.

New Reindeer Apron Kit

This is the NEW Reindeer design for the Apron Kits over at Remi and Jack. The Kits will be available for $20 each (usually $30 each) at Mathilda's Market next weekend. They are Adult size and are the perfect gift for your child to give to a loved one as a keepsake. Let me know if you would like to buy one.

What Absence?

I have been a little sparse with the blogging here. I have so many things going on over at Remi and Jack, that something had to fall by the wayside for a little while. After Christmas I will probably be back on the ball again with this here Art Blog. Art Blog??? Oops, is this meant to be an Art blog? Well, where has it gone? It has morphed for me for a little while to become sewing, printing and anything else that goes along with my little business type of blog, when I can find time to sit still and type.

So, we are going to be selling our Remi and Jack bits and pieces at 2 upcoming markets. The first is on the 1st of November at Mathilda's Market, from 9am to 1pm at St Ignatius College Riverview, Tambourine Bay Rd, Lane Cove.
The second is on Sunday 15th November at Narrabeen Village Markets, Berry Reserve Narrabeen (by the lake) from 9am-4pm.

So that is where all my so called 'spare' time has been going. On that note, back to the studio to sew. I bet you never would have thought you would hear me say that! Ooh, I am quite the little sewing mama now!

KIDS, A CLOWN AND A TON OF FUN

What a fantastic 5th birthday for our big boy today. Most of his family and friends came over to celebrate, along with Sparkles the Clown, who never fails to make the kids laugh their heads off. Thank you everyone, we had fun.

5

Our big boy is growing up so lovely. He turns 5 today, I can't believe how fast all of our lives are flashing by.

Here are 5 things that make him even more lovely every day.
1. He comes in to our bed every morning for a wake up snuggle.
2. No matter what is suggested for breakfast, he always wants 2 slices of Vegemite toast and a glass of water, a creature of habit.
3. He often disappears into his bedroom very quietly and tinkers with all of his toys. While he is playing he hums his little songs to himself.
4. He uses the most grown up long words at the most amazing times and makes me laugh.
5. He loves us, makes us smile and looks after his little brother (well, most of the time).

Ok, so that was probably more than 5, but there are so many good things about him.

Happy Birthday my Big Boy, I love you forever.

Chubby Toes

OMG!!! These are the cutest EVER! My cute little Remi just got his first pair of thongs at age 16 months - light blue with octopuses on them. Havaianas have always been a favourite of mine, I have probably owned at least 8 pairs in the last 3 years, and before that, who knows. My big boy Luca could never figure out how to wear thongs, and still can't, he is a sandals boy. I absolutely live in them from September to April, and now my little one will too, the strap they have added at the back of the baby ones makes sure they stay on little feet.

Those chubby toes are to die for aren't they?

A nice surprise

It is amazing what flowers in my yard one year and doesn't the next. I found these today hiding behind the trampoline away from little hands. They thought they were safe until I grabbed hold of them and ripped them out to put inside into a vase. Freesias (above) are always a favourite for me in Spring time, it means the warmer weather is on its way, and they smell divine. The Rock Orchids below are a complete surprise to me, they weren't there last year. I left 3 more branches of flowers for the butterflies. Oh, they are so pretty!

Monday

Doing my usual weekly look around my favourite blogs a week or two ago, Belinda from The Happy Home steered me in the direction of these terrific chairs from Ezibuy. I had to jump on the band wagon and get myself some. I have wanted some for the longest time, ever since we lived in the U.S. I should have bought them while we were there, but back then I was after a more modern feel. Now we live back here, by the beach, they are perfect, and they remind me of our previous life way back when.

It seems that my little one has decided that it is his new cookie eating seat. I have to admit, it suits him perfectly, and doesn't he look comfy!

August so far...

August started with the 'Big Seven O' for my Dear Dad. We celebrated with a family lunch and wished both Dad and Oscar (10 yrs) a very Happy Day. Dad's favourite cake is a Black Forest, so mum being the wonderful pastry chef that she is (not), ducked down to the Cheesecake Shop and bought this little number, which was so yummy for a shop made cake. Oscar had cupcakes (below) for his, my Sis made them and the kids loved them.
Other than that, August has been one busy day after the next. I am trying to get things together for Remi and Jack at the Mathilda's Market in November. I am still working on a website, taking photos, designing birthday invitations for Luca, sending out Play Mat orders, painting kids pics, sewing up a storm and dreaming of our upcoming vacation to Fiji. Oh, I can't wait!

Below are some candid pics from the Remi and Jack photo shoot last week. As you can see, my boy was not happy, I even bribed him with chocolate, which worked in the end. We got some good pics which will be on the website once it's up and running.
The Play Mat (below) is VERY hard to take photos of, nothing seems to make it look good, the colours are very bright, and they clash with each other when taken all together. Hopefully they look ok.

Now back to the kids, they seem to need more of my time lately, I don't think I am home half as much as I used to be. It is hard to fit everything into one day. The weekend is already over and I haven't had a second to myself.

Robot Prints

I am loving tin toys at the moment, mostly robots. I am even loving pictures for the wall of the play room (which still isn't finished). I have been a long time lurker of Tiel's blog Tsk Tsk, and finally bought these lovely robot prints of Norm, Nigel & Neville from her shop, they arrived yesterday. I love them! The colours are amazing and they go perfectly. The boys thought they were great, Luca (being an almost 5 year old) wanted to cut them out and stick them to his wall and couldn't understand why I wouldn't let him.

Now I am off to find frames for them. Thank you Tiel!

A little makeover...

My friend Steph, who is my Remi and Jack Business Partner, also in my Mother's Group and an all round lovely person is a School Teacher by day. With Remi and Jack's upcoming Markets, we plan on using a few pieces of recycled kids school furniture for our display tables. Some of the old school tables and chairs which were getting thrown out have made their way back to Steph's home and on to my garage for storage. I have been driving in and out of my garage for the last 4 weeks looking at this ugly table every time. I have been wanting to give it a little spruce up, a makeover, nothing special, just covering it in fun plastic tablecloth fabric and using a staple gun to secure it underneath.

This is what it looks like now. So easy to do, 10 minutes and I was done!

I love that it is now looking better than ever! Pirate treasure map plastic fabric (from Spotlight) looks great as a tabletop. It is now water and splatter proof and will look great as a display table for some of our merchandise.

I love to recycle! It makes me feel good!

70 soon...

My Dear Dad will be 70 years old this coming Saturday. It is always a dilemma finding a present for him, I never know what he might like. This year I plan on doing a painting for him over the next few days, hopefully finishing before the weekend.

What does my Dad like?

He loves his family, a nice meal and mostly he loves to ride his bike. He and Mum ride for miles every time they go out on an adventure. They go for weekends away with other bike riding friends and all ride for miles before finishing at a local pub for a nice cold one. I admire them both for being fit and healthy and still going strong. I think there are many more roads for them to find, and, I think they will keep riding forever.
So, I plan on doing a painting of a bike for him, kind of like the pictures that I have done on the computer above. Hopefully he likes it, and hopefully I get it finished for him - on time!

Warm

The view from the top of Long Reef
After hearing from friends in New York how hot the weather has been it gave me the feeling that I want Winter to be over. I love getting rugged up in all my winter woolies but being able to spend more time outdoors with the kiddies is more important, and a lot more fun. I can't really say we have had a very cold or wet winter at all, but I feel like we had been inside too much last few months. Having a little-ish one again, and not wanting him to get sick has a lot to do with it. So as the weather warms up we have been spending a bit more time out and about.

Our favourite walk is doing the loop around Long Reef, which we have done for the last 3 weeks. There is even a new path so the kids can ride their bikes the whole way. We even stop to watch the Pelican's enjoy a meal of fish guts from the local fishermen.
