The last day of the year...

Swimming is fun, except when you are 3 and the waves are more than 6 inches tall. We wanted to take the body board to the beach for the little guy to play on, but he didn't like the messy waves and we ended up at the sea pool again. We were there for a few hours, enjoying the beautiful weather that we have been having since Christmas. This is the life.

I hope your holidays are fun too.

Boxing Day Boys

We had a family lunch at our place today. After lunch all the kids had a Paddle Pop ice cream. They were just so cute sitting out on the balcony all together, faces covered in chocolate and caramel ice cream. These are the kinds of photos you want to keep forever, special moments in time. I think it's the first time they have all sat down together to get their pic taken. This ones going in a frame!
Happy Boxing Day.

Santa came!!!

This morning we started off early at home opening Luca's presents. He got quite a few things (he knew about most of them, because he had found them in the garage after we moved - we didn't hide them very well). He enjoyed ripping off the paper more than anything. From Santa he got a huge water pistol (for the water fight later in the day at my cousins house), some books, a bouncing ball that you sit on and bounce along, and a Hummer and trailer with a racing car on it. I think he likes everything.

After opening presents we got ready and went to my cousins house where all of my family are staying, about 10 minutes from here. Once again, Elise was ever so organised with 18 or so people coming for Chrissy dinner. We had the usual deliciousness of roast potatoes, roast sweet potatoes, roast pumpkin, peas, roast pork with apple sauce and gravy, roast turkey with cranberry sauce and roasted cashew crusted leg of ham. All this was topped off with yummy Christmas pudding with cream, ice cream or custard. Yep, I was full.

Luca didn't eat a single mouthful of the main meal, I don't think he likes roasted anything. Fuss bucket! He had a big helping of Christmas pudding and ice cream though. Later he had a blue and green sprinkle sandwich, but there was TOO much excitement playing with his cousins to worry about eating. He crashed out early and we had an early night as well. It was a lovely relaxing day. We had fun.

Thank you Leesy Loo and Benny.

How cute is this!

I wasn't expecting anything under the Christmas tree this year, it has been a spending frenzy with the house and all. My gorgeous 8 year old nephew Oscar made me a cute little cushion on his Mum's sewing machine. It is navy and white stripe with a light blue ribbon wrapped around it, topped off with a piece of coral he had collected from the beach. He is so sweet to think of me. Thank you Oscar, it will be treasured forever. xoxo.

:: 'Tis The Season To Be Jolly ::

I am not sure if it is just this time of year, but the days are just flying by. I only have 5 people to buy Christmas presents for but have still managed to leave it until the last minute to go shopping. The last 2 weeks have been consumed with cleaning and unpacking. Today was meant to be a shopping day, but it has to wait until tomorrow.

The move went fine - a HUGE effort was put in by everyone and we are forever grateful. It took two full days to get everything out of the Unit, and a couple of half days to clean up after ourselves. Next time a professional mover will be used for sure, it was pretty hectic for everyone involved.

I felt weird in our new house for the first week or so, but now it all feels real. We love the location and it is surprisingly quiet living next door to a unit block. We have a few minor things to do (screens on all the windows - the Xmas beetles keep crashing around the walls, a side fence and front gate to keep the little guy in, along with the usual yard maintenance), but none of it is urgent, it can all wait until after Xmas.

I am desperate to get my art studio back together, I have a million and one ideas running around my head that want to get out. I have some time after Xmas while Nick is off work to get my act together. We will hopefully spend some time at the beach if the weather is ok, but other than that, it should be a pretty chilled week.

Until then, have a safe and happy holiday season. Hope you get all that you wish for.
Cheers, Mon. xo

Christmas in the City

We had an early Christmas dinner this evening with my in-laws at my B-I-L's home because almost none of them will be around on Christmas Day.

After dinner we dropped by the city, on the way home, for a look at the beautiful Christmas tree lit with a million lights in Martin Place. It was about 10pm and the little guy was a bit sleepy by then, but I am happy that we saw it.
Sweet Christmas Dreams to you. Mon. xo

ONE sleep to go!

Only ONE sleep to go until it's ours!!!

Everything is close to being fully packed and we get the keys to our new house tomorrow sometime. It is all very exciting. I am quite nervous for some reason, maybe just hoping everything goes smoothly both for the settlement and for the move on Saturday.

The crazy daily tropical thunderstorms are driving me a bit mad, although, it gives me an excuse for not feeling guilty about spending a lot of time outside with the little guy. At least I am getting all the packing done. I packed Luca's room up today, and after he got back from his 3 hour outing with Gramps, he saw his room and was very sad... he even cried. Poor little thing.

The last 3 weeks have been a blur. Spending time at the beach, packing, Luca's Kindy Christmas Concert (which I will post some video of later) and just paperwork have kept me SO incredibly busy. Throw in a VERY outgoing 3 year old and there is no rest for the weary. My pregnancy is going fine. Had an ultrasound last Tuesday and have to go back next Tuesday because the baby was in a weird position to get all of the measurements that they needed. They got everything but the heart measurements. We aren't finding out the gender of the baby this time (we did with Luca), I think we need a surprise.

We spent last weekend pretty much at the beach (when it wasn't raining) and here is a pic of Luca on his friends surfboard (in the sea pool).

I am not sure when our internet is being connected at the new place, so until then, stay safe and keep smiling.

Happy Day, Mon. xo
